I love this CD. Classical is still a small part of my overall music collection, a piece has to keep my attention. This Mendelssohn is both melodic at times then transitions to energetic. The violin and piano are both very well played, I especially enjoy when both play together, I get so drawn into the performance.
The recording was done in a cathedral which gives this very well recorded album both ambience and openness. On my system the solo violin and piano where about even with my speakers in the sound stage with accompanying strings a bit further back.
For those who may be a novice like myself, this concerto only has violin, piano and occasional backing strings, the second main piece is just violin and strings. However, the album is very entertaining with never a dull moment.
